RT @MarleeMatlin: Yanni or Laurel? Don't ask me. I can't hear sh*t
From @jonathansawtelle and @kellysawtelle: It is with both deep sadness and a deep sense of relief that at 5AM today we were at home by Arden’s side as she breathed her last breath and was taken up to Heaven.
Kelly, Austyn and I will have an ache that will linger for the rest of our lives. We can already feel that life will seem to almost cruelly continue forward as we long for a pause - or better yet, a reverse to the way things were.
Thankfully, we have a God who promises that the separation we are experiencing from Arden is only temporary AND that what is to come (for those who trust in Him) is far better than “the way things were.” We are confident that Arden was greeted with a joyful embrace from her compassionate and mighty Savior and King that conveyed a love so pure and overwhelming that it more than made up for any sadness and pain that she experienced on this earth. This hope gives us reason to rejoice while we grieve. Given her new body. Able to speak again. Smile again. Run again. Eat and drink again. Tumors and suffering - never again. We are at peace knowing that she is very much alive and well.
We praise God for the eight years that Kelly and I were given to be Arden’s parents (and the 5 years that Austyn got to enjoy being her little sister). We are thankful for so many great memories that we will carry with us. Thankful for some sweet moments with her during these incredibly difficult final weeks of her life here. We are left to process through our “sad jealous” feelings the best we can as we long - even more so now - to be in our forever home. Can’t wait to see her again.
Thank you all for your continued prayers and support.
From Uncle Ryan:
I will have more details in the upcoming days concerning the memorial service (which will take place in the middle of next week). Jonathan and Kelly kindly ask that you refrain from sending flowers. Soon, we will provide a few causes near and dear to Arden for an opportunity for anyone who would like to give a gift in her honor.
Thank you for following my nieces’ story and for all of the outpouring of love that you have shown. It means so much to our family.
A stressful but fun day at last year's Ride to the Flags.
